Confirm that you accept the place

By now, you have hopefully spoken to our Office Manager, Mrs E Atkinson, to say that you accept the place you've been offered with us. When you speak to her, she'll check a few details to make sure we can keep in touch.

Make a note of some key dates

  • Transition Days when your child will be welcomed into the academy: 2 days between Tuesday 5 July and Friday 8 July

  • Transition Parents' Evening: Thursday 7 July

  • Uniform Collection Day: Saturday 25 June

  • Your child's first day at school: Friday 2 September 2022, 8.20am for an 8.30am start

Let your child look through the Pupils section of this website

We have made a page written just for pupils. Encourage them to watch the videos and read the information.

Or even better - work through the page with them!

Complete the admissions paperwork

After Easter we'll send you the admissions paperwork. There's a lot of information we need to ensure we can welcome your child and look after them fully, so please complete this carefully and on time.

You will be emailed a password to this form, which is completed online.

Apply for Free School Meals (if applicable)

School meals are a good way to ensure that your child eats well at lunchtime, and they can also save you time and money.

Claiming free school meals also helps the school. We get extra funding, known as the ‘pupil premium’, for every eligible pupil who is registered.

Your child may be eligible for free school meals if you receive any of the following:
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (as long as you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on
  • Universal Credit

Get your child's uniform ready for September

This comes in two stages:

  1. Collect some branded items directly from the academy

  2. Get some other items from clothes stores / big supermarkets before September.

  • The blazer and tie will be provided free of charge by the academy this year. However you will have to purchase the PE kit (polo shirt, thick reversible long sleeve games shirt and shorts) at a cost, for all 3 items, of £25.00.

  • Ties will be given out when the students arrive in September. The colours of the tie will show which Family they are a part of.

  • There is a compulsory PE kit and all students need to have one. Please ensure you measure your child before you come along to ensure a smooth process and avoid delays. You will also have the option to purchase girls leggings, track pants and jumpers (they will be ordered for you as they are optional and not compulsory).

  • If you cannot attend the academy to collect the uniform on uniform collection day, you can collect it after that date – by appointment only.

Drop-off and pick-up your child for their Transition Days

In July, we will be inviting your child in to the academy for two full days. During these days they will meet some key people, such as the Principal, their Heads of Year, teachers and more. They will be taken on tours of the building and we will do all we can to make them feel welcome.

We will write to you nearer the time with the precise information.

We will also be working with your child's primary school

Join us for our Parent and Carer Transition Evening

This special event for parents and carers will introduce you to key staff and make sure you have all the information you need.

Download My Ed parent app

We use an app called My Ed to keep in touch with parents and carers. It makes it cheaper for us to keep in touch (more money for trips etc!) and allows you to message us for free. You can find out more at https://www.myedschoolapp.com/ and download from your app store.

How does it work? In September when your child officially starts, it will automatically connect you to your child's details. (It does this using your mobile number, so keep us updated if you change this).

Make sure your child has the right equipment

Students need to bring a pen, pencil and ruler every day.
