Dear parents and carers,

We are so pleased that your child will be joining us in September 2024.

We know that it's a big thing for you to think about - how to prepare your child (and yourself) for the move to 'big school'. So we've broken down what you need to do into easy to manage steps.

Confirm that you accept the place

By now, you have hopefully spoken to our Office Manager, Mrs E Atkinson, to say that you accept the place you've been offered with us. When you speak to her, she'll check a few details to make sure we can keep in touch. You can contact her on 0161 300 5900.

Make a note of some key dates

Let your child look through the Pupils section of this website

We have made a page written just for pupils. Encourage them to watch the videos and read the information.

Or even better - work through the page with them!

Complete the admissions form

When Manchester City Council offers you a place, they share only limited information about your child, and we need more information to make your child feel welcome and to look after them for the next few years. We are asking parents and carers to complete this form by Wednesday 20 March 2024.

This information includes things like dietary requirements, emergency contact details and information we need to report on our school census.

Please note that we require details of all the adults with parent responsibility for your child, and we require the full contact details for at least two adults we can contact in an emergency.

You will be emailed a password to this form, which is completed online. If you have any issues, please contact us via manc-enquiries@coopacademies.co.uk or 0161 795 3005.

Apply for Free School Meals (if applicable)

School meals are a good way to ensure that your child eats well at lunchtime, and they can also save you time and money.

Claiming free school meals also helps the school. We get extra funding, known as the ‘pupil premium’, for every eligible pupil who is registered.

Your child may be eligible for free school meals if you receive any of the following:

Get your child's uniform ready for September

This comes in two stages:

Drop-off and pick-up your child for their Transition Days

In July, we will be inviting your child in to the academy for two full days. During these days they will meet some key people, such as the Principal, their Heads of Year, teachers and more. They will be taken on tours of the building and we will do all we can to make them feel welcome.

We will write to you nearer the time with the precise information.

We will also be working with your child's primary school and letting them know about these dates.

Join us for our Parent and Carer Transition Evening - Monday 1 July 2024

If you missed this event, you now can now catch-up with some of the key messages by watching this video.

Download My Ed parent app

We use an app called My Ed to keep in touch with parents and carers. It makes it cheaper for us to keep in touch (more money for trips etc!) and allows you to message us for free. You can find out more at https://www.myedschoolapp.com/ and download from your app store.

How does it work? In September when your child officially starts, it will automatically connect you to your child's details. (It does this using your mobile number, so keep us updated if you change this).

Make sure your child has the right equipment

Students need to bring a pen, pencil and ruler every day.
